What a day full of emotion. It's hard, really, to put into words how we all felt the day of Adam's law school graduation. His mom and dad were so proud, they were pressed to tears. Adam's father laid by his side every night while he was growing up telling him he was going to go on a mission, get married in the temple, and get a doctorate degree. Their dreams were fulfilled this day. Adam's other mom and dad, were excited for him to be done with school and very proud of his accomplishments. They are anxious to see how he continues in greatness. His wife was giddy with excitement. She was so proud to watch Adam, dressed in his gown, receiving his degree, as she remembered every single day for the last three years, and witnessed his growth. Adam, himself, I think was a bit "OK, let's get this done." at first, but throughout the commencement, softened to, "Wow, this is all really awesome. I'm so grateful for this experience."
Three years is a long time, but to us, his family, we will forever cherish those years. I have to brag a little about Adam now...
Before we came to law school, we had a wise bishop who counseled us to 1- always have date nights. I am happy to say we had a date truly almost every single week in those three years time. 2- set your priorities straight. Never say, "When I'm done with school, then I'll have time for that." because what that does is set the pattern for the rest of your life. You will always find yourself saying, "After I have a good job..., after we have enough money..., when our retirement is funded... etc. Adam was exceptional at this rule. He always made time for his family. We always had dinner together and he was home for the evenings to help get kids in the bath tub and in bed.
Adam also went to school with a 10 month old baby, and had two more added while in school. One of those being born during finals week his second year. Adam's greatest treasure is his children. He spent as much time as possible at home with them. He probably had just as many tickle wars as he did reading assignments. He knows, that if you want to spend time with your children while they are young, you have to do it while they are young. His children know he loves them.
Adam served as ward executive secretary and as the first counselor in the elders quarm while in school. He also was a faithful home teacher. Always making time to go each month and 90% of the time without a companion. He truly "served" in his callings. Sometimes his wife selfishly wondered if there was anyone else who could serve instead, only because Adam was so quick to minster.
We loved our time in Valparaiso. We took many trips to Chicago, Indianapolis, Nauvoo, and even a day to drive up the Michigan Lake coast. We have made many dear friends who we will love always, and have fallen in love with the area.
I can't say enough about how wonderful Adam is. He has accomplished great things. We have now closed a chapter in our life, and are moving forward for new adventures.

WOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO! I feel so proud. And to think, when I met you, you were a library supervisor (who inspired my now husband to ask me on a date, thankyou very much!). Way to be, all of you!

That's so exciting! I bet that it feels really good to be done with school. That is such an accomplishment! And even more impressive if you can keep a good attitude through the whole thing and not disregard any of your other duties. Way to go!!
