Feeling Love

I just have to tell a story...

Last night, Adam and I, were watching a movie. I had fallen asleep, but the movie was almost over. Adam heard Brailee and Daiken crying so we both ran down stairs to see what was wrong. Daiken couldn't breathe and was gasping for air. He had tears streaming down his cheek, and soon we heard that nasty, awful, barking sound that a parent never wants to hear. I whisked Brailee up in my arm, took her to my bed so she wouldn't wake up Estee, layed her down, covered her up and told her I had to go help Daiken. She very meekly said, "OK".

Adam threw Daiken in my arms and said, "I want you to take him in." So as fast as we could we frantically tried to find something warm for him to wear, which the nearest thing ended up being Brailee's purple coat. Adam ran to get Uncle Tyson so he could go down stairs with our girls, while I ran to the van to get Daiken buckled up.

We headed to the Children's Hospital and got Daiken admitted. All the nurses and receptionists were confused because I kept saying, "He can't breathe." and they were all saying to me, "You mean, SHE can't breathe." I was getting frustrated with them. Duh! I'm the mom. I know that my son is a boy! Then it dawned on me that he was still wearing Brailee's purple coat.

Luckily, Daiken's pulseocs was 98 which is absolutely fabulous for CO. They only expect you to be above a 90. Daiken got a squirt of a steroid, they did all their other checks, and sent us home with a croopy baby boy.

When we got home, we moved Brailee back to her bed and brought Daiken's bed into our room with a cool air mist humidifyer. Luckily, Daiken fell right to sleep and slept the rest of the night.

Adam got up with the girls this morning about 7:30 and Daiken and I didn't get up until 9:00. When we came out of my room, Brailee got big eyes and came running to give Daiken a hug. She said, "Oh Daiken! Come here and give me a hug. I have missed you so much."

That is the point of my story. Brailee was asleep while all this was going on, and yet, she has so much love for Daiken that she knew something had happened to him while she was asleep and she was so glad to see he was ok. It was tender to my heart this morning to hear how excited Brailee was to see Daiken and hear how much she loves him. It's something a mother holds onto and hopes will last forever.

Siblings love is honestly the most wonderful thing in the world. I think it is the best thing a mom could hope for is that her child love to be together. I'm so sorry about Daiken, hopefully the croup will pass over soon. I HATE the winter!!!!!!

Oh, I am so looking forward to having that with my kids. I am so sorry to hear about Daiken's croup. That is nasty! I will for sure keep your family in my prayers!(Aren't you glad that Uncle Tyson just lives upstairs? Little blessings you don't think about until in a moment of need they are there for you!)

That is so cute! I hope that Daiken is feeling better. I'm sure that makes your heart melt when you see them acting like that. You have some good kids!

Isn't it sweet that siblings have this love for one another that you can't replace. I'm just glad everything is okay.
